Barry eager to lift Everton faithful off their seats

Everton midfielder Gareth Barry has stated that he is keen on giving fans something to cheer about in their Capital One Cup encounter with Manchester City on Wednesday.

Everton welcome City to Goodison Park to contest the League Cup semi-final first leg and one can expect the Toffees faithful to create a real atmosphere on the night.

Barry is very excited ahead of the game and has stated that the players will do all they can in order to get the fans 'off of their seats'.

Barry said: "For me, Goodison is the toughest away ground to come to.

"If you are an opposition player and you want to take a touch but the crowd is on your back, it is a difficult place to play. Under the lights here, the atmosphere is that much stronger. We need to use that to our advantage.

"It is about getting in the oppositions' faces and lifting the fans off their seats. That is the first target.

"We know what the atmosphere is going to be like. You will feel that tension in the air. This club is waiting to make the step to Wembley.

"The players are aware of that. I am. It is down to us to get on the pitch and achieve the performance that will set us up to get through."
