Pablo Barrera admits he was sold on West Ham United by his agent.
The Mexican winger is on the verge of a £4m switch to Upton Park from Pumas UNAM as he waits to see if his work permit application is successful.
Barrera, who earned his move during the World Cup, is aware of West Ham's poor form last season when they narrowly escaped relegation, but says his agent has been told new manager Avram Grant will be signing quality players.
"My agent told me they are signing players to get better," Barrera said.
"For me, it's just really cool to play football in Europe because it is a dream I have had since before the World Cup."
