Barr and Smith to leave as Hearts prepare for summer exodus

Heart of Midlothian could be set for a summer exodus with a number of players out of contract in the coming months.

Defender Darren Barr and midfielder Gordon Smith are out of contract in the summer and will certainly depart Tynecastle at the end of the season.

The pair could be joined by a number of other Jambos including Andy Webster, Marius Zaliukas, Danny Grainger, Dylan McGowan, and Fraser Mullen whose deals expire at the end of May.

Hearts boss Gary Locke admitted it was a tenuous time for the Edinburgh club: "We are still not sure what is happening but no matter what, players are playing for their futures here or for their futures somewhere else.

"It's important that they give it their all from now until the end of the season. I know the lads really well and no matter who plays, they will give it everything they have got.

"Hopefully that will be enough to get us some victories."
