Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater has suffered a thigh injury on-loan at Barnsley.
United reserves boss Warren Joyce has confirmed the disappointing news that the midfielder strained a thigh muscle when earning a spot-kick that enabled the Yorkshire side to take the lead in Saturday's clash with Ipswich.
"So it's frustrating for him and I'm sure it's frustrating for Barnsley as well."
Tykes boss Keith Hill is planning to discuss the 20-year-old's future after sending him back to Manchester for treatment.
"Danny could be out for three to four weeks," Hill told The Sheffield Star. "He's gone back to United for an MRI scan to see the extent of the damage.
"It's a blow because he's been excellent this season. Danny wants to stay and play football but he's not our player so we'll be working closely with United to see if anything can be done.""Danny has done well for the penalty and Barnsley took the lead in the game and were looking comfortable," explained Joyce to ManUtd.com. "Danny goes off and they end up losing the game 5-3.
