Barnsley boss Mark Robins has signed Stoke City pair Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson on loan.
The Tykes boss has bolstered his options at the back by landing the highly-rated duo on three-month emergency deals.
Dickinson has already racked up 60 appearances at the Britannia Stadium and has spent previous spells on loan with Blackpool and Leeds.
Shotton spent last season out on loan with Tranmere and enjoyed a similar spell with Altrincham during the previous campaign.
Oakwell boss Robins is looking to lift the Tykes out of the Championship relegation zone having been appointed earlier this month following Simon Davey's dismissal.
