It had been widely speculated over the weekend that the 24-year-old midfielder had handed in a transfer request after hearing of potential interest from David Moyes, but both club and player have vehemently denied the reports.
Barnsley chief Simon Davey told the club's official website: "Brian has not - in any way - requested a transfer from Barnsley Football Club."
And Howard confirmed: "I signed a two-year contract in the summer and I'm going nowhere.
"My future is here at Barnsley Football Club. You cannot pay any attention to what you read in the papers."
