Sunderland have reignited their pursuit of Barnsley star Marc Roberts, according to reports from The Sun.

Sunderland look certain to suffer the ignominy of relegation this season following their 3-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday but despite the uncertainty surrounding the club's status, the Black Cats are planning to be active in the transfer market this summer.

According to reports, the Black Cats are again weighing up a move for Barnsley centre-back Roberts and could make their move to sign the £5million-rated star in the upcoming transfer window.

The 25-year-old defender has impressed for the Tykes since joining from Halifax Town in 2015.
