Frank Barlow is delighted to be joining Wigan Athletic as the club's new assistant manager.

He said: "I'm excited at this opportunity to work at the highest level, the Premiership is superb. Wigan have enjoyed a meteoric rise. It doesn't seem that long since I was coming here with Bristol City. I enjoy the daily involvement of working with players out on the training ground and I'm flattered to have been given this job ."

Latics manager Chris Hutchings said: "Frank brings with him a wealth of experience. I know we can work well together and make a very good team."
