Everton midfielder Ross Barkley admits he sees Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney as a personal role model.
Barkley says he has looked up to Rooney, who will win his 100th cap against Slovenia on Saturday, as an example throughout his career.
"When I was younger I saw Wayne breaking through as a 16-year-old at Everton and scoring cracking goals," said Barkley.
"For him to make his England debut while playing for Everton was good to see. There are still loads of pictures of Wayne at the Everton Academy and memorabilia from when he was at the club. He has had a tremendous career and I have always looked up to him."
