Fluminense midfielder Gerson is expected to join Barcelona in January.

This week, Barca chief Ariedo Braida announced they held first refusal on Gerson and Flu teammmate Kenedy.

Sport says Brazilian media sources insist Gerson will join Barca in January 2016 for €7 million. The total package will cost Barca €10 million.

"I will never talk about the transfer, but it is true that the club paid 10 million reais (3 million euros) to have a preferential right to purchase Gerson," agent Jorge Machado confirmed yesterday.

Gerson's father, Marcao, also declared: "Both Gerson and I want very much that in the coming months, Fluminense and Barcelona agree to a transfer and it is definitively closed."
