Barcelona are threatening Southampton's deal for free agent Martin Caceres.

El Mundo Deportivo says Barcelona in need of defensive cover for Aleix Vidal.

Vidal was ruled out for five months after suffering a horrific ankle injury in yesterday's 6-0 win over Alaves.

Luis Enrique is looking to replace the right-back despite the transfer window ending just over a week ago.

If Barca want to replace Vidal, they will have to look to free agents like Caceres.

The Uruguayan normally plays centre-back but is capable of covering at full-back and is one of the best defenders currently without a club.

He is also well connected at Barcelona, having played at the club between 2008 and 2011.
