Barcelona target India for coaching initiative

Barcelona has announced its intention to take its FCB Campus initiative to India in 2012, stating the country is "important and strategic" for the club, reports Sport Business. Barcelona has linked up with Conscient Football for the project, which will grant aspiring young Indian footballers the chance to be trained under the famous club model. Last year the club's campuses were held in 22 countries across the world and helped 18,000 youngsters aged between six and 14.

The Indian campus will see a technical team from FCB Escola travel to supervise the preparation and execution of all training camps across the country. The club hopes to engage with 10,000 Indian children over the next three years.

"We are excited to partner with Conscient Football to introduce FC Barcelona in the country through FCB Camps," director of FCB Escola, Xavi Marce, told www.fcbarcelona.com. "India is an important and strategic country for FC Barcelona, given their growing interest in football."

Conscient Football director Anu Jain added: "The main objective is the development of youth footballers on a widespread and sustainable basis guided by the best in the world. We plan to build a solid foundation upon which Indian talent can be nurtured and grown to become champions in football and in their own lives."
