Barcelona striker Villa released from hospital

Barcelona striker David Villa has been released from hospital.

The Spain international, 30, had surgery on the injury he sustained during Barca's Club World Cup semi-final victory over Al-Sadd on Monday and is set to be sidelined for between four and five months.

Barca announced on their website: "David Villa was cleared to leave hospital this Saturday, five days after his operation, and the Azulgrana number seven will now be able to spend Christmas with his family."
