Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is considering his international future.
Ibrahimovic has pulled out of Sweden's friendly with Italy because of injury.
The former Inter player was not named in the squad after straining a thigh muscle in the weekend's 4-2 win for Barcelona over Real Mallorca.
However, it has emerged that his absence from the set-up may be a permanent one as he is meditating international retirement.
"He has doubts over his future with the national team," new Sweden boss Erik Hamren told Fotbollskanalen.
"I've spoken with Zlatan and until he has made a decision, I won't call him to the squad. You can lead a horse to the water, but he has to drink himself."
"As a manager it is important that players have the motivation to play," he continued. "For me, the most important thing is that you have your heart in what you do."
