Sport says the Croatia international has agreed personal terms with Barca, which still must thrash out a fee with Sevilla for their club captain.
Barca see Rakitic as a replacement for the wantaway Cesc Fabregas, who has one foot inside Chelsea.
Sevilla rate the midfielder at €20 million, though Barca are confident of talking down that valuation. While Rakitic's father has claimed rival interest from Real Madrid and Atletico, Barca intermediaries insist they're the only serious suitor for the Croat.
Both Barca coach Luis Enrique and sports director Andoni Zubizarreta are united in bringing Rakitic to the Nou Camp for next season.
