Barcelona stars Messi, Alves in hotel ruck with London fans

Barcelona stars Lionel Messi and Daniel Alves reportedly were involved in a bust-up with fans in London this week. Footy fan James McWatt is said to asked Messi to autograph a Barcelona shirt after bumping into the pair in one of the hotel's corridor. Reports suggest that as Messi went to sign, Alves began shouting at the 19-year-old and his friends, reports the Mirror.

Student James is reported to have said: "He was just about to when Daniel Alves put his arm in the way and started screaming at us 'No'.

"He started going mental at us, shouting and screaming in Spanish. I walked away and heard it getting really heated and filmed it."

A member of Barca's security is reported to have helped calm matters after teammates - including Thiago and Alexis Sanchez - came out of their rooms to find out what was going on.

A video filmed by James on his phone allegedly shows the players arguing with the fans before Alves demands he stops recording.

"We returned to our rooms," James explained. "But later hotel staff and two police officers came in and told us the Barcelona team wanted us out."

He added: "We hadn't been drinking and weren't rowdy, just excited in anticipation of meeting Messi.

"The incident was unbelievable. My respect for Barcelona has been destroyed."

A hotel spokesman said: "An incident involving a small number of guests took place. Four guests were asked to leave and did so peacefully."

Police said that "no offences were alleged or arrests made".
