Barcelona star Messi: We deserve to celebrate this title

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was pleased to again win the title this season. Messi describer eternal rivals Real Madrid as a "tough" opponent.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw at Levante, Messi told Marca: "I'm very happy because it's been a very tough title.

"It's taken a lot of hard work to be champions and more so against a great rival like Real Madrid.

"Now we have to enjoy it," added the Argentinian, who hit the post in the second half but was not able to add to his 31 league goals this season - leaving him five behind Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo in race for the Pichichi award as top scorer.

Barca captain Carles Puyol, who was not part of the match-day squad at the Cuitat de Valencia stadium this evening, now has five Primera Division winners' medals in his collection.

The Spain centre-back said: "I have to be calm but I'm very happy, it's different when experience it from outside.

"I've been in the stands but I'm very pleased. We've worked very hard and today we've got the rewards. Now to celebrate it and rest a little to prepare for the final."
