Vilanova is now recovering in New York and Punto Pelota is desperate for a positive update on his condition after seeing his father suffer through something similar.

The Barca coach was one of the decisive people in Messi's career, having backed the Argentine when he first started playing for the junior team. Messi was desperate for good news from Andoni Zubizarreta, the sports director, after he visited New York a fortnight ago.

Barca president Sandro Rosell will be in New York this week to meet with Vilanova.
