Barcelona signing Dembele stands by BVB strike: I didn't want to train with them

Barcelona signing Ousmane Dembele admits his move from Borussia Dortmund has been a year in the making.

Dembele signed for Barca last week for a fee rising to €150m, having moved to Dortmund a year ago from Rennes.

He recalled: "Robert Fernandez (Barca's sporting director) came to my house once last year. We discussed before Barcelona decided to recruit me, and again this summer.

"My strike? I was calm, it was a matter of negotiation between Barça and Borussia. I knew I had to be patient. I decided not to go to training anymore, I did not want to do it anymore so I looked for an excuse.

"If it had not finished well and I had not done everything possible to go to Barcelona, I would be regretting it today."
