Barcelona hope to settle on new terms with Samuel Umtiti within the next month.
The France defender is a confirmed target for Manchester United, while he has also been linked with Real Madrid this week.
Barca have been attempting to upgrade Umtiti's deal, which carries a €60m buyout clause, but the stopper's personal terms have left the board unimpressed.
Barca believe United's interference are driving the high wage request from Umtiti - but remain hopeful of finding a compromise.
Sport says either way, the Blaugrana are aiming to have everything settled by the end of the month. They do not want negotiations dragging on and affecting their summer market plans.
