Barcelona's senior players want Juan Carlos Unzue to succeed Luis Enrique as coach next season.

Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde is also being linked with the post, but Don Balon says current assistant coach Unzue has the support of the locker room.

Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique regard Valverde highly, but see him as an appointment of the board.

Instead, they see Unzue as one of their own and are keen to work with him.

Messi's opinion matters most and after seeing the trail for his favourite Jorge Sampaoli, of Sevilla, go cold, he favours Unzue stepping in once Enrique walks away.
