Barcelona remain in pursuit of Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Mundo Deportivo says Barca have struggled to convince Ajax to open serious negotiations about a deal for the 21 year-old.

Ajax know Barca are serious about signing De Jong this summer, but have made it clear they're reluctant to do business.

As a consequence, Barca have sought assistance from experienced intermediary Rob Jansen. The Dutchman has close ties to both clubs and Barca have asked him to push Ajax's board to open a communication channel about De Jong.

Jansen was the former agent of Edwin van der Sar, who is now a director with Ajax.

In the past, he has taken former Ajax players Ibrahim Afellay, Henrik Larsson, Phillip Cocu and Marc Overmars all to Barca.
