Luis Suarez has opened up about last summer's big-money move from Liverpool to Barcelona.
The Uruguayan striker left Anfield to join the Catalan giants for £75million prior to the current campaign but it could have been a different outcome if it weren't for Reds skipper Steven Gerrard.
In the summer of 2013, Arsenal were making moves for Suarez but Gerrard urged him to remain with Liverpool for a further 12 months before landing a dream move to Barcelona where he would not be playing below himself.
"I do owe so much to Steven when Arsenal wanted to sign me," said Suarez.
"We had a private conversation and he said, 'Give us another season and wait for Barcelona, you are too good for Arsenal'.
"It is the best advice he could have given. If it was not for him I might not be at Barcelona now."
Since arriving at the Camp Nou, Suarez has netted 24 goals in all competitions including six in seven Champions League outings ahead of the semi-final first leg with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
