Barcelona's Pique feels Chelsea loss ended Guardiola reign

Gerard Pique believes Pep Guardiola would have remained manager of Barcelona if the side had beaten Chelsea in last season's Champions League semi-final.

Guardiola ended his tenure at the Nou Camp last summer after Barca failed to win in Europe but former Manchester United defender Pique suggests the Bayern Munich boss-to-be could have been talked into staying with the Catalan giants if the result was different.

"We were left with the feeling that if we had beaten Chelsea in the semi-finals and then gone on to win the Champions League, we could have convinced him to stay another year. You never know," Pique told reporters.

Guardiola is set to replace Jupp Heynckes as manager of Bayern at the end of the current campaign.
