Barcelona's Guradiola admits he wanted to retain Man City deportee Toure

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has revealed he wanted Yaya Toure to stay at the club.

The Ivory Coast international is now shacked up with older brother Kolo at Manchester City but his Barcelona boss says he did not want him to leave.

"It's a big blow for us," Guardiola said. "I did everything possible to get him to stay and he's a popular player in the dressing room, but he wanted to leave and there's not much I could do.

"I am grateful for everything he gave Barca and I hope he finds a (regular) place (at City) that I was unable to give him."
