Barcelona's €160m man Philippe Coutinho insists he has no regrets over his time with Inter Milan.

Inter have been criticised this week for selling Coutinho to Liverpool five years ago for a knockdown €12m.

But Coutinho stated: "I started to understand that I would become a professional when I signed my first contract with a European club at the age of 16, Inter, but I was very young.

"It was difficult for a young man who came from another culture. I went to Italy with my parents and my girlfriend, who is now my wife.

"Milano looked very big, the team had many stars. It was a very positive, but difficult experience.

"If I had gone alone I would have died ... I needed support and the family was by my side."
