Barcelona president Sandro Rosell refuses to give up on convincing Victor Valdes to sign a new contract.
Valdes' current deal expires in June.
"I have tried to convince him to stay but I cannot tell you that we have met as yet," said Rosell. "Of course, I have tried and he has not yet come off. I will certainly be trying again.
"We have a year left and that is a long time."
On the prospect of Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas arriving as a replacement, Rosell was adamant.
"No, in no case," he continued.
"Some players are iconic to one club. Madrid would not think about signing Xavi and I can never see Casillas wearing the Barca badge."
