Barcelona president Joan Laporta is confident Xavi will soon sign a new contract.

"The negotiations are on the right track," insisted Laporta, who added that the process was being taken care of by sports director Txiki Begiristain.

"He is who has the responsibility for these matters and who is leading negotiations for the renewal of contracts."
