Barcelona president Laporta: We were very poor

Jon Dahl Tomasson struck Villarreal's winner after Xavi had levelled for Barcelona following Marcos Senna's opener from the spot for the visitors.

"We have played very poorly. They have dominated almost the entire game, only for a short while in the second-half did we impress. They have beaten us well and truly," lamented Laporta.

Laporta also insisted the quiet Nou Camp crowd were not at fault for the result.

"It's the players who must motivate the fans," said Laporta. "They cannot use the crowd as an excuse.

"Now we have less possibilities of winning this Liga, but we will not give up. We are in the same position as five weeks ago, but now there are fewer games left. While there's life there's hope."
