Barcelona president Joan Laporta has attacked the mega spending of Real Madrid in the last week.

Reacting to Real's £140 million outlay on Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, Laporta barked: "One is a model based on effort, talent and foresight, based on everything that is typical of a business project, and the other has a certain air of imperial arrogance and, moreover, has its origins in the market.

"I am very pleased to promote a model that for me is much more serious. It has been demonstrated that the business model based on effort, work and the skills and talents of people can also be successful."
