Barcelona president Joan Laporta refused to rub salt into Real Madrid's wounds after his team's 5-2 victory over Lyon. Asked about Real's failure at Liverpool, Laporta insisted: "I do not wish misfortune on anybody. I know it's bad for those who have not progressed and I am happy for those that have qualified."
He continued: "I'm cautiously happy because we scored goals and showed humility, but above all because the club has had fun. It is nice to be a Barca fan.
"The goals are always welcome, it was very important that (Samuel) Eto'o scored, but so did (Thierry) Henry. And (Lionel) Messi was good as was (Seydou) Keita. Lyon has proved a great team and in the second-half tested us."
On Real's title challenge, Laporta added: "Madrid will be more rested than us, but the elimination will be a major blow and we do not know how it will affect them. In any case, the title depends on us."
