Barcelona president Joan Laporta says they're close to agreeing a new deal with skipper Carles Puyol.

"There have been meetings with the representative of Puyol and we will shortly have an agreement," said Laporta.

"It is the will of all and our captain. It is very clear that Pep (Guardiola) and the club want him here."
