Barcelona president Joan Laporta made contact with Zenit St Petersburg officials earlier this week over midfield ace Andrei Arshavin.

Laporta was in Vienna for the European Championship final and spent his time registering Barca's interest with Zenit for Russia international Arshavin.

Marca says Laporta is eager to tie up their remaining transfer targets before July 6 and along with Arshavin, he is also pursuing Arsenal pair Emmanuel Adebayor and Alex Hleb.
