Barcelona president Joan Laporta has hit out at the pictures of Lionel Messi spitting at Malaga midfielder Duda.

Laporta believes the publishing of the images is part of a campaign to "destabilise" the Liga leaders.

"If this is not on record, he should not be punished," insisted Laporta. "It is an issue not related to sport and what we must do is to continue to work with humility.

"We must not let this destabilise us.

"We're doing everything very well, but there are people who will not excuse this and demand action."
