Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu turned to Pep Segura only after Jordi Cruyff rejected the job.

Segura was named sports manager yesterday by Bartomeu.

Sport says Bartomeu moved for Segura after Cruyff turned down the job having been offered it in May.

The son of Barca great Johan Cruyff chose to remain with Maccabi Tel-Aviv, where he left the sporting director's post to become new coach.

Segura has worked for Barca for 20 years over two periods.
