Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says they accept Luis Enrique's resignation.

Enrique announced after Barcelona's victory over Sporting Gijon that he would be stepping down at the end of this season.

"He said he will not continue, but what I can say is that we are happy with what he has done and what he will do, since, I remember, we continue in three competitions and we have title options in all of them.

"We must give support in the best way until the end of the season."

Bartomeu also revealed: "He has already said it this summer, he told Robert Fernandez and Albert Soler that he valued not to go on for another year, that this was going to be the last year, and a few days ago he said he would not go on."
