Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club's elections will be held this summer.
Bartomeu, who was promoted after the resignation of his elected predecessor Sandro Rosell last year, confirmed he will stand for election 12 months earlier than scheduled.
"We have decided to call elections at the end of the season in order to reduce the tension that the club is experiencing and suffering from," Bartomeu told Spanish media in a press conference on Wednesday.
"I believe this tension is disproportionate and it does not adjust in any way to the club's reality."
