Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu refused to hit out at Jordi Cases when discussing the Neymar controversy yesterday. It was Cases' legal action which eventually forced full disclosure of financial details regarding Neymar's move from Santos and the resignation of former president Sandro Rosell.
But rather than attack Cases, Bartomeu argued: "What makes us great is that a shareholder may change the history of the club. This is what makes us different. Cases, as all members, owns the club and is entitled to do what he has done."
But he did take aim at the Madrid media.
"I do not think there is anyone behind Cases, but Madrid have done everything to try to hurt us. We are seeing some belligerence from Madrid towards Barca. It seems hard for them to digest that we have players like Messi or Neymar, Barca have dominated these years and what is not won on the field ... it appears they want to win in the offices."
