After seeing David Silva sign a new contract with Valencia yesterday, Barca are turning to Russia international Arshavin as they seek to strengthen their midfield for the new season.

Both Barca sports chief Txiki Begiristain and coach Pep Guardiola rate Arshavin highly and are ready to revive their interest in the Russia international. Barca actually had an option on Arshavin worth £11 million agreed with Zenit earlier this summer, but interest from Tottenham and AC Milan has seen that deal ripped up, says El Mundo Deportivo.

Barca are willing to use the £14 million they set aside for Silva to bid for Arshavin.
