Barcelona have opened talks with Manchester United for Matteo Darmian.
The Daily Star says Barca director Ariedo Braida is trying to do a £16million deal for Darmian, 26.
The right-back is not wanted by new boss Jose Mourinho only 12 months after his £12.7m arrival from Torino.
Braida, the Nou Camp's sporting director, knows Darmian from his early days at AC Milan.
United only have makeshifts Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones capable of filling Darmian's position but Mourinho may invest in that area this summer.
