Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is delighted for Croatia teammate Luka Modric over his UEFA 'The Best' award.

The Real Madrid ace is also on the shortlist for the FIFA gong.

Rakitic said, "Luka deserves it all, I'm very happy for him, I congratulated him on the 5th and I've done it again.

"In Croatia we're all happy for him, it's a prize for all of Croatia, we have the best player in Europe and of the world at the moment, I would have been surprised if he had not won it this year, that's clear.

"Luka is very happy to get this recognition because nobody has given him anything.

"The most important thing is that he wins because that is the way all of Croatia do. Honestly, what he has achieved is very little for what he deserves, he will still achieve more in the future."
