Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes has opened talks with Arsenal.

The Mirror says the Portugal international is expected to leave the club this summer after failing to hold down a first-team place under Ernesto Valverde.

And the Gunners are believed to be among several clubs, including north London rivals Tottenham, who are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

According to reports in France, Arsenal have moved to steal a march in the race for Gomes' signature.

The midfielder is understood to have been left out of the Barcelona squad for their pre-season tour and will look to secure his exit from the La Liga champions before the start of the season.
