Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has called for referees to do more to protect ball players like Lionel Messi. The Argentine suffered ankle ligament damage after a roughhouse tackle from Atletico Madrid defender Tomas Ujfalusi last night.
Speaking after the 2-1 win, Valdes said: "We're worried about him (Messi) and want to know what injury he has. I hope it is not an important thing.
"We must protect such players, not only him but footballers who play in such a fashion because the tackling can be a disgrace if referees are so permissive as what happened today."
