Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is eager to hear from Arsenal.

The Daily Star Sunday says it is understood that Barca's ex-Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has given his former club a glowing reference.

Valdes, 31, is being allowed to leave the Nou Camp, even though he has a year remaining on his contract.

That is to mark his service to the club - but Barca will still seek a fee for the stopper.
