Barcelona legend Xavi has taken a swipe at those players who have left the La Masia academy.

Xavi believes Barca shouldn't be seeking to re-sign the likes of Arsenal fullback Hector Bellerin.

He explained to Sport: "I have seen him play little, but I will tell you one thing, it is difficult for me to sign a player who we already had."

Asked about Gerard Piqué and Cesc Fabregas, he continued: "Yes, you can go wrong or be a regular starter. But I would be in favor of players who have not been here over those coming back.

"I see it as mind-boggling. I do not get it."

On Manchester City signing Eric Garcia and Monaco's Jordi Mboula, Xavi added: "Yes, the truth is that I am very surprised what they have done. I would not re-sign them in the future. I would have this philosophy. You've been here, you've wanted to leave, you're not coming back."
