Barcelona hero Kluivert in Oxford talks

Former Barcelona and Newcastle United striker Patrick Kluivert is being linked with the Oxford United job.

The Mirror says Thai businessman Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth became the new owner of the League One club recently and he's been looking for a high-profile name to take the job.

The U's have been without a gaffer since January when Pep Clotet was sacked with the club loitering precariously close to the drop zone.

The likes of Craig Bellamy and Alan Stubbs have been linked to the post, but Kluivert would be seen as an ideal choice for the role.

Kluivert has been an assistant at AZ Alkmaar, NEC and the Dutch national team whilst also serving a brief stint as the manager for the Curacao national team.

Most recently Kluivert was working as the sporting director for PSG, however he left that position in 2017 and continues to seek for a new opportunity.
