Barcelona fullback Daniel Alves has turned up the heat on rivals Real Madrid, accusing them of jealousy.

Alves is upset many say Real are now favourites for the Liga after taking over the leadership.

"They are always looking for an excuse to be positive about Madrid," said Alves. Asked who he meant by saying "they", Alves added: "Madrid, the environment ... they are jealous."

He continued: "Despite Madrid being top of the standings, to me they're not. It makes me angry because we have not yet played in the Bernabeu and it seems that they have already won the title.

"We know everyone in Madrid is against us."
