Barcelona fullback Daniel Alves offered Cristiano Ronaldo mooted congratulations after the Real Madrid star won the Ballon d'Or. Alves also attended the gala event in Zurich.
"I think when someone wins something, it is because he deserves it. I want to congratulate him on his second Ballon d'Or, although my personal opinion is different," said Alves, who was also asked about teammate Lionel Messi missing out.
"Messi is happy to win collectively, if they give him an individual award, great, but he is happy because he loves football and this is his source of happiness.
"For us the most important things are the collective, if we then win awards, we appreciate it, but it is not our main goal."
