Former Barcelona defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy insists his old coach, Pep Guardiola, never wanted him sold.
Chygrynskiy joined Barca in 2009 from Shakhtar Donetsk for €25 million, but managed just 12 games before being sold back to his Ukraine club.
"I did not want to leave," said Chygrynskiy. "But I had to leave, because Barcelona had debts and they wanted to bring down their wages. Shakhtar wanted to buy me back for €15 million and Barcelona decided this was a good solution.
"I wanted to stay and Josep Guardiola said he was counting on me.
"I was sorry, but I do not regret anything. It was a great experience."
