Barcelona fear losing out to Chelsea, Arsenal in Ozil battle

Barcelona fear missing out on Mesut Ozil to the Premiership. The Daily Mail says Barca are weighing up a move for Mesut Ozil - just to stop the Germany star signing for Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester City.

Coach Pep Guardiola would struggle to fit the Werder Bremen playmaker into his starting line-up, but senior figures at the Nou Camp have been extremely impressed with Ozil's performances at the World Cup.

The 21-year-old is out of contract next summer and seems unlikely to sign a new deal given the interest from across Europe.

Ozil has plenty of admirers in England and has been mooted as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas at Arsenal, though he is more attack-minded than the box-to-box Emirates Stadium captain and has been dubbed the 'German Messi'.
